From Chairman of The Amble and District Education Association.

The group is now well and truly off the ground, with more than 20 members already, and welcomes people of all ages who enjoy learning in a friendly, sociable and stress-free environment, with no tests and no exams!

Our courses begin twice a year, in September and January. Each course will normally be of eight weeks, at an approximate cost of £35 plus a small membership fee. The venue will be the Methodist Church, Percy Street, on a Thursday morning from 10 to 12. Please note: at the present time we are meeting online, using Zoom, so if you’d like to join us please email

For each course, the subject is chosen by the membership, thus ensuring everyone has a say regarding the width and depth of the topics taught. We also employ tutors of the highest standard and the first course in September is called Looking At Paintings and will be given by Dr.Peter Regan. For more details of this course, click here. In January, Andy Griffin (BEd Hons) will lecture on Events and Eventualities.
